“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Joshua 1:9 NIV

If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a pandemic. A casual trip to the corner store now is met with people standing at least six feet from one another.  Some wearing masks, some with gloves on and then there’s some that are garnering both.

Social distancing has become the new normal.  Not only has distancing become mandatory but we’ve now incorporated washing our hands profusely throughout the day as part of our daily regime. Things have changed.

When the pandemic first started I was thrilled to work from home and stay in my pajamas all day and make frequent trips to the refrigerator without ever having to leave home.   That thrill is now gone.  Not only has the thrill left but the Holy Spirit dealt with me about my new habits.  Not that He had to, as the scale was already beginning to reflect my new lifestyle.

“You should be unchanging in your daily patterns, pandemic or not.” the Holy Spirit spoke in my spirit.  He then led me to the scripture:

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

I had to admit that my work environment had changed and so did my motivation.  But He had to remind me that my work should be unchanging.  My days should not be different.  I should not be different.

If I were waking early, spending time with the Lord, reading His Word and watching Joyce Meyer before the pandemic then I should still be doing that. The Coronavirus should not change my daily routine with the Lord.  The Coronavirus hasn’t changed who sits on the throne of my life.  God is still in control with or without Coronavirus.

Revelation 7:15, “Therefore, “they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.”

Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that I work for You and You alone. Although the world changes around me, You are unchanging and immovable.  You are still in control and sit on the throne of my life.  Help me to remember that I serve You in everything that I do. Even during a pandemic, You are still excellent, in control and praiseworthy!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
